GoPro Session Action Camera Teardown By iFixit
As expected iFixit have quickly got their hands on the new GoPro Session action camera and opened up their toolkit, to help us see what technology lies inside the latest pocket sized camera from GoPro.
The GoPro Hero4 Session action camera records 1080p video and 8 megapixel stills and is completely waterproof without the need for any external cases, unlike other GoPro cameras within the range.
The new GoPro Session camera has been three years in development and includes a 1030 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, together with built in support for Wi-Fi, a micro-USB connection, and microSD slot that is expandable up to 64 GB.
iFixit has awarded the GoPro Session with a Repairability Score of 1 out of 10 with 10 being the easiest to repair. Meaning you have very little hope of repairing the hardware yourself if anything should go wrong. iFixit explains :
Accessing the device for internal repairs means ripping, tearing, and dremeling through a rubber band, plastic casing, and copious amounts of glue, making reassembly infeasible. The inner components are assembled together in a web of circuitry and adhesive. The “integrated” battery is soldered and glued to the rest of the device, meaning battery replacement is next to impossible.
